Is Tom Peters right?
Posted by: James Hathaway
Last night I was having a conversation with my good friend Tom Peters regarding the benefits of blogging. I was saying that it is not as important to me to build community or generate comments on this blog as it is to build contextually relevant content which will generate more search engine results.... "Plus," I added, "there are not enough people (if any) actually READING the Clear Path blog to generate comments...."
Tom said:
"I think you may be wrong. You need to construct your blogs differently and explicitly ask for opinions from your readers. Ask 'What do you think?' "
Ok.... is Tom Peters right? Are people actually reading this blog but simply not commenting?
What do you think?

From the blog-writer's point of view I share your thoughts, James. But as a blog-reader I have to agree with Tom's idea. Maybe people don't realize that their reaction can be of great value. It can generate new thoughts, bring fresh ideas. Knowing that there are people concerned with the work CPI does, can be a big motivation to continue too.
I DO read the blog and what I read always interests me because I am studying prosthetics in Vancouver, BC. I hope to be involved with an organization like CPI in the future. So keep up the good work.
Hey Duane... glad to hear it! And please get in touch with CPI co-founder Imbert Matthee if you are ever down in Seattle
His email is imbert@cpi.org
Lobke... you are the best! I hope you write more for this blog soon :)

Hey Duane,
Glad to hear you are reading about us on the website. Not sure you know but we have an office in Canada now and if you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Enjoy reading,
Lori
Oh man... how embarassing..!
Yes, we DO have an office in Canada now... Um... sorry about that Lori :)
In my defense it is pretty new... Duane, please do contact lori at lori@cpi.org
Forgive me Lori?
I am late to this thread ..yeah I was away in India for Dec..any-hoot, yes I read the blog, and at times comment.
As for TP's comments, there is both sides of the coin that needs to be done. That is, blog about what you do and also ask critical questions.. be dangerously provocative.. get the juices flowing of blogosphere.. this eventually will get you more comments and readers.. and in the end a community of participation.
James most of the entries here are almost about what has happened or happening.. the various events that CPI folks do. You must also use this blog as a listening post/ sounding board. You need to engineer an Architecture of participation. Its not easy, its hard work !!
IF you rebuild they will come :)-
